Above-ground poolsAbove-ground pools are the cheapest type of pools available. They are a perfect summertime fun solution for those who do not intend to or cannot build an in-ground pool. Or for those who want to be able to move the pool if they move house or change their garden design. - An inexpensive solution
- A possibility of moving the pool
- Quick installation – buy today, have a swim in two days
- A broad range of shapes, depth and finishing material.
In-ground poolsPools of this type can be divided into three groups: concrete pools with a ceramic finish, concrete pools with a foil liner and polyester pools. In-ground pools are more expensive than the above-ground ones. However, they should be treated as an integral element of the house construction. They lend it a touch of exquisiteness, functionality and prestige. Moreover, the pool can be of any shape chosen by the owner; its depth may also be freely adapted to the owner’s choice. Another important factor is that many accessories can be installed around the pool (e.g. slides, water guns and water curtains). Concrete pools with a ceramic finishSuch pools are among the most beautiful ones and are built for owners who value both functionality and architectural effect. - Elegance and prestige
- Any shape
- The most expensive solution
- A long time of pool construction
- In Central European climates there might be some problems with keeping the ceramic surface clean (more difficult spring cleaning).
Concrete pools with a foil linerThose pools are most popular in Central and Western European countries. The nice and practical finish making the pool easy to keep clean. Foil liner durability: 10-15 years. - Nice appearance of the pool
- Any shape and depth
- Easy assembly of water accessories (counter-current, jet, etc.)
- Not very long time of pool finishing
- The cheapest solution for all in-ground pools.
Polyester poolsThat type of pools has been increasingly popular over the last years. Their assembly is quick and trouble-free. The pools are available in a broad range of shapes. - Elegance of the pool
- A broad range of pool shapes
- Quick assembly
- Easy to keep clean (what spares you money otherwise spent on specialist pool-cleaning chemicals)
- More expensive than foil-finish pools but you do not have to replace the liner
Other things to remember...Construction of an in-ground pool, especially a bigger one, requires a special building permit. Although, there are no problems with it, the procedure takes about two weeks to be completed. Thus, an unquestionable advantage of an above-ground pool is the fact that you do not need any permits to set one up. It is worthwhile to consider in advance the design of the ground around the pool: where to set up the pump and filter set, whether water in your pool is to be heated by the sun or by a gas heater, whether to equip your pool in “Roman stairs”, what attractions to install or what will be installed in future, whether the pool is to be covered with sun foil. When you have the complete concept of the pool and its surroundings ready, contact a professional pool company to discuss details and commission a design. |
