Step 1 - pH regulation
Good qualities of water in your pool depends on maintaining the proper pH value. Take special care of the accurate pH level in hot weather as it is then that water pH tends to soar. In falls pH will decrease. The neutral and ideal water pH is 7.0. pH value below 7.0 points to acidity, above 7.0 shows alkaline condition. pH value ideal for human skin ranges from 7.0 to 7.4. Step 2 - disinfection
The pool water makes a favourable habitat for a variety of bacteria, fungi or algae. Even a small amount of bacteria or fungi poses a hazard for bathers, in case of a public pool their occurrence may even result in closing the object. The outstanding speed of bacteria propagation may bring about water clouding or slime on the pool bottom and walls even a few hours after pool filling. To keep your pool water sparkling clean use disinfecting chemicals from the moment of the first fill-up. Chlorine method: Chlorine used for potable water disinfection is the most accurate disinfecting chemical used also for the disinfection of pool water. The regular chlorine disinfection not only gets rid of bacteria but also removes (by oxidising) non-filtered organic decay. Step 3 – algae prevention
Algae prevention is a specific issue in pool water treatment. Algae are a uni- or multicellular organisms building organic matter out of non-organic compounds contained in pool water. They multiply very quickly, many a time it is a matter of a few hours for algae to develop a slime layer on pool walls, steps and bottom. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent algae from growing. Chlorine is not enough as algae become resistant to it. The most reliable chemicals preventing algae growth are quaternary ammonium compounds (algaecides) from the so-called Desalgine range. They are super concentrated and thus, used even in small doses, are outstandingly effective. Additionally, they clear clouded water for sparkling results (clearing effect). Desalgine used together with chlorine has a synergy effect. Use it also in the active oxygen disinfection method in case of pool water of strong green colour or to wash slime-covered walls of the pool. For low-foam results use Desalgine Jet. !! Step 4 - flocculation
A sand filter does not stop either finely distributed impurities (sand and slime particles) or particles completely dissolved in water (salt, acid, alkali, amino acid, urea). Water treatment aims however at maximum removal of impurities and at maintaining ideal water quality. Therefore, also impurities not stopped by the sand filter should be eradicated. To do so, use Quickflock Super or Superflock chemicals making fine particles into conglomerations large enough to be held back in the sand filter. !!
